QB Tyler is back with another book in the Secrets series, this one once again following the employees at Beckham Securities, which has got to be one of the horniest companies ever imagined. Our Little Secret is forbidden, spicy, and fast-paced fun.
At her friend’s wedding, Marissa meets Chris. He’s handsome, he’s charming, and he has no trouble talking her into spending the night with him. Marissa thought there was a spark, a connection between the two of them, but she woke up in the morning only to find him long gone.
Three months later she starts her new job, only to discover not only is Chris her new boss, but he’s also married. And that spark she was sure she felt is still there, despite it all.
Like most of QB Tyler’s books, there is an age-gap component to this relationship, not to mention the taboo forbidden romance of a married man and his subordinate. The married aspect of this one is tricky at times, mostly because the heroine doesn’t always feel great about what she is doing. But like every forbidden romance the reader is faced with the question: what do the rules of society matter when faced with true love? And as taboo as it is, the answer, in a romance novel context only, is not at all.
The plot mostly surrounds the clandestine affair that is their relationship. There is not a lot of external stuff going on in this world, as is typical in this series. It’s about the relationship and how the people around them react to it.
As compared to the rest of the Secrets series, this book is actually my least favorite, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy every second of it. When it comes to contemporary romance, QB Tyler’s books fill a very specific brief and mood that is just incomparable when you want something filthy and forbidden. And Our Little Secret is exactly that. It’s filthy and forbidden, with a salacious plot and characters you just can’t help but ship even when it’s so very wrong.
