It has been far too long since I’ve had a good dose of Q.B. Tyler‘s particular talent for taboo, age-gap romance. I was so excited when I found out that she had another book on the way. The Nanny is Off Limits is an age-gap, single dad, forbidden romance that’s as sweet as it is spicy, like a really good jalapeño margarita.
Rowan Kincaid is struggling, trying to raise three kids on his own while balancing his career as a successful attorney. When his son, Sawyer, starts getting in trouble at school, it’s clear that something needs to change. A chance encounter at the grocery store leads the Kincaid family to Elianna Riley, a twenty-five year old graduate student who can’t help but want to make life a little better for the Kincaids.
The problem is, that there’s an immediate attraction between Rowan and Elianna that proves too powerful to ignore. The stakes are high with the entire family growing more attached to Elianna by the day, and this forbidden love could glue them all back together, or burn it all to the ground.
The Nanny is Off Limits is absolutely a character-driven story, with a plot that largely surrounds the characters, their emotions, and their relationships.
Every character in this book is so wonderfully lovable. The kids are well-developed characters in their own right, and Rowan, despite his difficulties, is such a good dad. Elianna is a classic oldest sister, so empathetic and caring. There is no villain in this story, just a bunch of people for readers to root for and fall for.
The story is very fast-moving, another one that I read in only a few hours. Honestly, this book might have been a personal record for me. It only took me a little under five hours to finish, although it’s not super lengthy.
With Q.B. Tyler’s books, readers can always expect spice levels that will make even experienced readers go a little pink in the cheeks. The Nanny is Off Limits is no exception.
There is an instant attraction, but it’s still a medium-ish burn, with a lot of sexual tension and build-up for Rowan and Elianna to navigate, given the complicated nature of their relationship.
When the tension finally snaps, it is hot. Don’t read this one in a public place. The chemistry between these two is so sexy but still so tender, and I devoured every second of it with joy.
While this romance is quite firmly “forbidden”, Rowan doesn’t come close to throwing all decency out the window. He considers everyone’s feelings and very carefully confirms Elianna’s consent every step of the way.
I can’t think of anything better to do in an afternoon than read this sweet and smutty story. Q.B. Tyler has such skill for building passionate love, emotion, and physicality between her characters and I can’t wait to read whatever she comes up with next.
