The Fury Squad is only for the most depraved of soldiers, even among the underground Dark Forces. When Emery Mavestelli is recruited to train for the squad, it seems better than serving out her life sentence for murder. Not that she’s given a choice.

For her trials, she’s partnered with Cameron, better known as Mori, Fury Squad’s most unhinged member. He’s clinically insane, a walking science experiment, known for killing all his past partners.

No one expects Emery to last long, but she quickly sees past Cameron’s insanity and finds there’s more to this gorgeous, vicious killer. And Cameron is determined to have this time be different. He finds he doesn’t want to kill Emery, fascinated by this pink-haired assassin.

Together, Emery and Cameron must survive three brutal underground tests to secure their futures in Fury Squad. And if they fail, they die. This underground military service has secrets layered upon secrets, and it’s even more dangerous than it seems. Survival will be a fight that even these trained, violent creatures might not be able to win.

Cameron and Emery are deeply abnormal human beings, but somehow still feel so real. They strike the perfect balance between grounded, with emotions we can all relate to, and utterly unhinged, doing things most of us could never imagine doing.

Every character in this duet is creative and unique, but Cameron especially is so complex. He has layers of crazy and layers of complete humanity, and he was so much fun to read and learn over the course of this duet.

The spice is just as wild as Cameron and Emery themselves are, and every scene fits these characters perfectly. There’s a little kink, a lot of reckless abandon, and a whole lot of love in the romantic moments, and it’s sheer perfection in the landscape of this duet.

Although it’s wild, jaw-dropping twists and turns are enough to engross any reader, those who are unfamiliar with dark romance be warned, the Dark Forces duet does not shy away from gore. It’s gorgeous and disturbing, with a very specific voice. It’s unusual, and I simply could not get enough. I discovered K.M. Moronova this year, and every word she writes has had me in a chokehold. She is an auto-buy author for me forevermore, and I can’t wait to see what she does next.
