After her father was shot and killed, Quinn Kent became the leader of the Enigma motorcycle gang, a role she takes seriously. But mysterious attacks across their territory are presenting all kinds of problems. The Princes of Carnage, a rival gang with a neighboring territory, are experiencing the same attacks.

Nico, the leader of the Princes, proposes a partnership, in which Quinn and the Princes share information to find the attackers. To seal the alliance, Nico demands a marriage. For the sake of her gang, Quinn reluctantly agrees.

With the Princes of Carnage firmly embedded in Quinn’s business and her house, they get to work weeding out the threat against their gangs. Quickly, it becomes apparent that Quinn’s relationship with Nico and his two best friends is far from a simple marriage of convenience.

What follows is a thrilling tale of enemies turning to lovers and back again a few times, with a story that reads like an action movie, with three sexy and complicated men and a woman who’s an absolute fighter.

The characters have dynamics that are commonly found in why choose novels: the leader, the reluctant, and the scary one. And of course, the badass woman who is the focal point of the group. There are also crossover characters from other Eva Ashwood books, including the Kings of Chaos, which made for fun little cameos.

The story picks up very quickly and continues to move at a fast pace throughout the series. There is plenty to keep a reader turning pages here, with plot twists, betrayals, and brutal cliffhangers.

Pretty Ruthless Monsters is all about the spice, and it is kinky, rough, and excellent. Despite this being a four book series, the author doesn’t make us wait for the good stuff. We’re talking full on group scenes in book one. It’s perfect if you’re craving that spicy hit.

Quinn has palpable chemistry with all three of these men, and every interaction between Quinn and any combination of her men is fiery hot. There is intense dirty talk from the three men, although there are moments when it gets to be repetitive, and maybe a touch cringey, but for the most part it makes sense for these intense characters.

I am not sure that this series needed to be four books long. By the end of the third book, it all starts to feel a little repetitive, both in the battles and the spicy scenes. That said, it was still fun to read. Motorcycles, sex clubs, and three morally questionable men, what more could a romance reader ask for?

Verdict: Love It
