While each of the books in this series has its own plot and characters, they all exist in the same world, a place of four elven kingdoms, divided from humans with a magical wall.

All of these stories involve characters bound by an ancient magic, and all of the kingdoms are facing some kind of treacherous peril. The plots are dramatic and emotional, involving kings, queens, priests, and thieves all engaging with dangerous magic and supremely hot sex.

Based on my experiences with Amy Pennza’s writing, I had high expectations for the spice, and I was not disappointed. These books are all about the spice, and they’re short, so it’s truly the main draw.

The sex in these books is unapologetically visceral. These scenes are very descriptive and leave little to the imagination, while the dirty talk is hot enough to make anyone blush. These books are not ones to read in public unless you, like me, have not an iota of shame.

Realms of the Covenant features characters that fall in love unbelievably quickly, so they can get to the good stuff. As a result, we get all kinds of delicious sexuality, but the characters themselves lack development. We don’t get to know much about them outside of their connections with each other.

The magic system is relatively vague and differs slightly from book to book, with none of the different kinds of magic particularly clearly explained, but let’s be honest, that’s not what we’re here for.

I read all four of these books in a span of three days. The plots move extremely quickly, making them easy to tear through and fun to read. The third book, The Stormbound Knight, is by far the best, with the most intricate plot and dimensional characters.

Readers don’t need to read all four of these books, and they are true standalones that can be read separately and out of order. While Realms of the Covenant may not be the fantasy series with the most depth, it is absolutely worth the read for anyone who just wants some forbidden desire and insane spice.
