Made by Sadie Kincaid is the final installment in her Manhattan Ruthless series, following five billionaire brothers and their love stories. This book follows Maddox James and a friends-to-lovers relationship with Ellie, who ties the universe together with a Chicago Ruthless connection.
Ellie and Maddox met in Morocco two years ago, and he rejected her advances, leaving her feeling insecure and hurt. When they run into each other at Jamestech, his brother’s company, where Ellie is the Vice President of Marketing, she’s shocked when he immediately remembers her.
When the air is cleared about what happened in Morocco, the two fall into an easy friendship. Eventually, they realize they want more, but his celibacy and her work create doubts.
Ultimately, they can’t resist the love they have for each other, and the two fall together until secrets from their pasts threaten to tear them apart.
I love Sadie Kincaid and every salacious story she’s ever written, but Maddox and Ellie didn’t quite connect for me. Maddox and Ellie’s story was just a little too easy, until the very end, and even those problems were solved relatively easily in a matter of pages.
This story is primarily about Ellie’s journey with self-confidence and reclaiming her self-esteem. Maddox is also there, but his character growth largely took place before the events of this book.
Made is easy to read, but lacking the tension of previous books in the series. It’s fast-paced, which is a feature of Kincaid’s writing, but significantly sweeter and more straightforward.
The spice in this book is explosive, and readers would expect nothing less from this universe. It’s a bit of a slow burn, but the sexual chemistry between Maddox and Ellie is on fire in the second half of the book.
While it didn’t necessarily live up to earlier books in the series, Made was a fun, spicy read that served as the perfect distraction from the stresses of the world. This book is perfect for readers who want that Sadie Kincaid spice, but with darkness that is easily conquered.
